Truth Be Told With Lucinda Bassett – Worriers

Here’s the good news. Great worriers make fabulous goal-setters and achievers. After all, worriers like you are focused, determined, and set on particular outcome. You have a powerful imagination, you think in minute detail, and you are extremely creative and a futuristic thinker.  This is the same set of skills it takes to succeed. So if you’re a world-class worrier, you can also be a world-class achiever. All you need to do is change the focus of your attention from worrying to achieving great things.

But this isn’t you right now. You might be thinking, what if the test results come back positive for a terminal disease? How will I deal with that? I don’t think I could. I’m afraid to die. What about my kids? Who will take care of them? Will I live long enough to see them grow up? How much pain will I be in? What if it’s cancer? Will our insurance cover it? What if I lose my hair? What if I die?

I know that for many, the scenario I just painted has increased your anxiety. You may be thinking, “I want to feel better, not worse.” Of course you want to feel better and you can. This is how anxiety-ridden people excel at being great worriers. They take their worry and run with it. All the “what-ifs” come into play- the same things that a successful person does. Even Donald Trump, a self-made real estate developer and designer of a billion-dollar empire, has had his ups and downs, which provided him with tremendous opportunities for worry.
