Truth Be Told – A Memoir of Success, Suicide and Survival
By Lucinda Bassett

From bestselling author and self-help guru Lucinda Bassett, comes an intimate and empowering memoir. A few years ago, Bassett’s husband and business partner, David, committed suicide after an agonizing year’s struggle with mental illness. Lucinda and her children were devastated. Unbelievably, within just a few months of his death, she lost her brother, and then her mother. And to add to the overwhelming anguish she was already experiencing, Lucinda was then forced to sell her business during an economic downturn. In this gripping account, Bassett digs deep inside herself to uncover the patterns of guilt, blame, anger, and shame she experienced throughout her life, and how they resurfaced and related to these horrific and painful recent tragedies.

Truth Be Told With Lucinda Bassett- Shocking Facts and Figures about Suicide

Shocking Facts and Figures about Suicide

Suicide is a serious public health problem that can have lasting harmful effects on individuals, families, and communities. While its causes are complex and determined by multiple factors, the goal of suicide prevention is simple: Reduce factors that increase risk (i.e. risk factors) and increase factors that promote resilience (i.e. protective factors). Ideally, prevention addresses all levels of  influence: individual, relationship, community, and societal. Effective prevention strategies are needed to promote awareness of suicide and encourage a commitment to social change. – Center for Disease Control and Prevention

Sons of Anarchy Death: Mental Illness

Sons of Anarchy Death: Mental Illness

“The defendant will continue to be a threat to any community he may reside,” the officer wrote in his pre-sentencing report. “His behavior … must be taken seriously appropriate sanctions imposed to safeguard others.”
The report also stated that Lewis “has a special handling historical classification of ‘mentally disturbed’, ‘suicidal’ …” -NBC

Another tragic tale that could have easily been prevented. Had there been a facility or a program for people suffering with mental illness, many of these cases would be avoided.

Deaths caused by suicide have surpassed deaths caused by car crashed. People suffering are not getting the care they need to become healthy individuals.
