Suicide Prevention Month- Lucinda Bassett Truth Be Told

Suicide Prevention Month

September is National Suicide Awareness Month. It is so important for people to be aware of the risk factors that can lead to violent behavior and self harm. Empire State Building Shooting

My heart goes out to New Yorkers and those effected by this horrible shooting this morning. This just proves that our country needs better gun control regulations. Over the past few months we have seen massacres and tragedies for no apparent reason.

The peak rate of suicide in 1933 occurred one year after the total US unemployment rate reached 25% of the labor force. Similar findings have been documented internationally. At the individual level, unemployed individuals have between two and four times the suicide rate of those employed.”
